Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation
TAVI is the replacement of the aortic valve through the blood vessels. It is a minimally invasive procedure and is administered to a thickened artery. This procedure helps to improve the damaged aortic valve. During TAVI an artificial valve that is made from natural heart tissue of an animal, generally cow or pig, is implanted into the human heart.
TAVI is proven to increase life expectancy and reduce mortality. Even for high-risk patients, it is a preferred alternative.
