This is a non-surgical procedure used in the treatment of stenosis of coronary arteries. It is a combination of angioplasty and stenting. Here the blocked arteries are widened and blood flow is restored. In cases of acute heart attacks, PCI is used as an emergency treatment. It is considered an alternative to a by-pass surgery.
